Grant has a large general practice, providing advice to a diverse range of individuals and businesses on property and rural law, business law, asset planning and trusts.
He has a particular interest in farming and rural transactions, having himself grown up on a dairy farm. He advises over 40 farming clients and enjoys helping them to navigate the legal issues which arise in farming life, such as buying and selling farms, structuring loans, entering rural leases or grazing agreements, and developing succession plans.
Grant also advises a large number of healthcare professionals and businesses, and has developed special expertise in this area.
Originally from Kaitaia, Grant completed his schooling at Kaitaia College before earning his law degree at the University of Auckland. He worked as a lawyer in Auckland for two years, returning to the North to join Thomson Wilson, where he became a partner in 1982.
Grant enjoys the outdoor opportunities that Northland provides and has a passion for fishing and thoroughbred horse breeding. He is also an armchair critic of most sports.
