Graeme Mathias
Partner
Graeme leads Thomson Wilson's Resource Management and Local Government team and is an expert in these areas. He acts principally for the Whangarei District Council, having acted as a legal advisor to the Council for over 35 years.
In addition to his specialist expertise, Graeme has extensive civil litigation and general practice experience. He advises both private clients and public sector organisations in relation to property and rural matters, and disputes.
Graeme builds strong relationships with his clients, and it is a testament to his skills that many of Graeme’s clients, and their families, have retained Graeme as their legal advisor for over two decades.
Having gained his law degree at Canterbury University, he worked in Christchurch and overseas before joining our firm, then known as Thomson Wilson Fidler and Heenan, in 1978. He became a partner of the firm in 1980, which makes him our longest-standing partner, and one with a good gut instinct for the law.
